Skating Coach [Learn to Skate Program] - Part Time
Job Position: Learn to Skate Program Instructor/Skating Coach
Hourly Wage: $15.00 to $17.50
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a part-time position, and hours of work and days fluctuate with evening and weekend hours are required. An eight week commitment is required to coincide with each program session offered (program runs for eight weeks per session, six sessions per year).
The Learn to Skate Instructor position at the Iceplex must have a broad knowledge of the Figure Skating and/or Hockey and the USFSA Learn to Skate USA Program (formerly Basic Skills Program). The instructor is responsible for teaching the basic fundamentals to adults and children in a supportive environment.

Essential Functions
- Arriving prepared and on time.
- Providing figure skating instruction to youth and adults according the the USFSA Learn to Skate USA standards.
- Making every effort to cover all skills in the level you are teaching.
- Assisting Skating Director with determining placement for all skaters.
- Evaluating students at the end of every eight week session.
- Encourage appropriate behavior of skaters.
- Role modeling appropriate behavior by:
- Dressing appropriately and professionally
- Respecting facilities, students, and staff.
- Using appropriate language.
- Encouraging students to do their best.
- Creating a supportive learning environment.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Strong background in figure skating and/or Hockey.
- Prior coaching experience prefered.
- Strong knowledge of USFSA and/or USA Hockey guidelines.
- Must like working with children and adults.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Ability to manage large groups.
- Friendly and outgoing.
- Strong time management skills.
- Must be able to work as part of a team.
- Required to sit, stand, walk and frequent use of stairs. Required to move about through multi - level building with use of stairs.
- Required to frequently bend or lift.
- Required to lift heavy weights (less than 50 pounds)
