The Rochester Americans and Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex have partnered to host GROW THE GAME - a Try Hockey For Free event designed to introduce children ages 4 to 14 to the game of ice hockey. This event is unique in that it will take place inside Lattimore Arena at the Iceplex, on a rink with no ice, so participants will learn in a 'street hockey' format (with sneakers replacing hockey skates).
GROW THE GAME will take place on August 17th, with two separate sessions being offered, which requires no hockey experience in order to participate. Participants will be provided hockey sticks, will be broken up into age-based groups, and will then learn the game by rotating through five stations, headed up by a mix of high level coaches and players from the Rochester area, including including members of the Rochester Americans front office and hockey operations. The five stations will teach participants stick handling, shooting, passing, game concepts, and more, all while having a fun time in a positive hockey environment.
This event is completely free, and as an added bonus, every participant will also receive a complimentary ticket to the Rochester Americans 2019-20 season home opener on Friday, October 4th. Limited spots are available, so be sure to register right away.
